Cliff Top - Trig Point TP2226 - #15

Cliff Top - Trig Point TP2226 - #15

I have set myself a target of 40 Trig Points in 2011.
Parked opposite the Pub in Swinscoe, and nipped over the 5 bar gate and up the hill to this one, easy really!

Love the trot up to this one from Agnesmeadow Bridge, as you reach the Green Lane, the going
can get tough, as it really does get some 4 x 4 hammer!

I always like a trot up to this one, from Hulland Village, its approx 25 mins out and back, found it really hard to find on my first ever visit to this one, and it seems to be getting even more overgrown!

Mickley Hall Farm Trig Point TP4793 - #8

Mickley Hall Farm - Trig Point TP4793 - #8

I have set myself a target of 40 Trig Points in 2011.
This year being my 40th Birthday on 12th October i plan to have reached all 40 by that date.

As i used to live in Nantwich i have looked into getting as many trigs as i can around there. As i was at my parents at the weekend i suggested to my Dad that we went to find this one, really easy trot across the fields to this one.

A great little find that sits between two barbed wire fences, and a badger set.

Noton Barn - Trig Point TP5191

Nice and easy really, hop over gate, trot up to it and done,

Easy one to find just off the road and bridleway. Nice views all round. TP in good condition but is getting a bit green and slimey. Could do with a new coat of paint.

Elton Common - Trig Point TP3057

A great find, quick jump over a 5 bar gate and then across the fields, Nice white painted pillar, but a pity the flush bracket has been painted over too. Pleasant views of surrounding area.

Bole Hill - Trig Point TP1521

This one was a real tricky find, tucked in behind a Derbyshire Stone Wall, off the beaten track and happy to have found it, a real slog as i had just completed Leg It Round Lathkill.

After i had found this, i made my way back down the footpath, and found six folks who could have not been more lost. They must have been 8 miles off course, and they had a map, strange but true, i put them right and made sure that they had a plan to get back on route, marked their map and walked to the next major turn with them, how amazing is it to find folks who have no idea wandering around Derbyshire.

Hopping Top - Trig Point TP4015

Took part in Leg it Round Lathkill and managed to get this one done before setting off back home. Lily also did this one with me, her first Trig Point Bagged! Bless her.

Warton Cragg - Trig Point TP6761

Ran to this one from Pine Lakes resort, what a great view along the coast, there was a crows nest, which i decided not to climb up,

met a local fella who said he had walked up nearly every day of his life...... he also said that "some folk in the village have never been up here" their loss, what a great little find.

You can also see Blackpool Tower and the Welsh Mountains from this point on a crystal clear day.

Arnside Knott - Trig Point TP0889

Double rainbow over Arnside - really moody day!

I have had a few days away last week, we stopped at Pine Lake which is just off the M6 jct 35, a great place to stop if you get the chance, great access to the fells and pool, jacuzzi, sauna et all when you need to chillax,

While i was their, i decided to tick off a local trig or two, some great family planning and i fitted then in,

First off was Arnside Knott - a great climb and trot from Arnside, a lot of road at first but when you get off the road it does test you a real climb, which i would liken to Thorpe Cloud, but only twice a long. the views... stunning!

View across Arnside - Towards the Lakes

Training well my dear!

Not posted for a while and have had so much on...

I started my own business, marketing and brand advice, building websites, designing logo's and training companies how to use Social Media in their marketing mix, all going well to be honest... in fact really well. Company is called DE22 Creative Design Solutions - www.de22.co.uk

Training is going well, i have been building up on distance again, and have been getting picked up by a friend and fellow DarkPeaker Steve Shaw. He picks me up around 7.20ish and i get a lift to his work in Horsley Woodhouse, from here i have a 12 mile trot which takes in a lot of the Wilmorton Wander route

essentially i pick the route up at Drum Hill - SK 37521 42129

From here i follow the most obvious route to the next trig which is Stitteridge Wood - SK 31239 36851

When i get here i turn round and head back towards Markeaton Park and across to home,

All in all it's a good trot with approx 2600ft of climb, and at the mo i am doing this three time a week.

Wedgewood Memorial

I have been driving past this week in.. week out,

So one night on my way back from dropping Lily at Grandma and Grandad's house in Nantwich, i decided to call in, find a layby and trot up to it.

Well, from the road i thought it looked large, and also that there was trig point not to far away, so trotted off up the hill out of Audley, across a few fields and up a lane, across a few more climbing fields and then it showed its head.

The Wedgewood Momument, situated on Bignall Hill, this is memorial to John Wedgewood, which left in his will a request for an obelisk to be erected no less than 20 yards high.

This was completed in 1845.

Markeaton Hill - Trig Point - S3984

Set of from home for this one situated not to far away, approx 2 miles,

Didn't really want to do this one as last year it seemed to just take me through a housing estate,

Well glad i did it, even though from the picture below, you will see that it is in fact situated on somebodies driveway, on Cricklewood Road Mackworth Derby

Kinder Low - Trig Point - S4113

Traveled across to do the Kinder Downfall Route on Sunday 18th April,

Reached this beautiful view whilst on the Kinder Downfall Recce at the weekend,

The general views around the plateau were some of the best i have seen for some time,

Madge Hill - Trig Point S2274

Last year i managed to go to each of the trig points marked on the Derby OS map,

One the my favorite views was from Madge Hill, so i have decided to visit as many of these again this year, and also to add more to the list.

After arriving at the foot of Angnes Meadow Lane, just north of the A517 Ashbourne Road,

I also wanted to plan a route for a training run around there,

The trot up the lane through the farm was a steep as i remembered it, a real slog for about 1.5 miles, to the trig on the right, it seems like a builder has purchases some land off the lane and is clearing it ready for houses, the lane can only really service the houses up there at the moment so i am unsure how this will work.

The lane turns into a green lane that has been turned into a 4x4 track by the looks of it. Makes for a little navgation to avoid the large rutts, next time i am up there i will take soem images,

The circular route woudl take me up to the trig then past, taking a right and heading back down into the valley to trott along the river back to the car.

A nice little test with the first climb and then a long tough thigh burning descent, can't wait to go and do it in anger.

The Trig is in great condition Madge Hill S2274 if anybody else wants to make a visit, map reference is SK 21865 49601

Will keep adding these as i bag them.
